Terminology
- Classes
- In order to be able to make a comprehensive high level analysis of your time utilization it is meaningful to define specific classes of activities and actions, so you can track your progress at different levels of aggregation. Typical classes are business, health, personal growth, family and friends, leisure time
- Obviously, depending on what you plan to focus on, it is possible to also take a more granular cuts of activities and actions
- Activities
- Activities are defined in order to be able to measure the time you spend with such activities. Good examples are client meetings, workshops, project work etc. in the business context or jogging, gymn, swimming, meditation, walking in the health section, or TV, social media, movies in the health session and so on. Quality time spent with the significant people in your life might also be worth measuring
- Actions
- Actions are defined to just count the incidence of a specific action or behavior. Good examples could be coffees, cookies vs fruit and water in the nutrition area, cold showers in the health area. Paying compliments, active listening, mindful could be activities in the relationship space
- Vision Boards
- Each time you interact with the app, you might want to be reminded of your personal vision, of the personality traits you are trying to develop, of the personal goals you have set for yourself. 1TapTrack allows you to assemble personal visual representations that will be shown to you each time you interact with the app
- Supporting media
- If meaningful, you can upload multimedia content to be started with specific activities. As an example you can have good background music being plaid every time you start a focus activity, or you may upload meditation audios to support your meditations
- Nudges
- As an alternate to vision boards you might have inspiring quotes or learning cards displayed randomly, either based on the library provided by OneTapTrack or custom made
Defining Classes
- Definition of classes can be done in the settings section of the app
- As a default, 1TapTrack has 2 pre-defined classes, which you might edit at will. Users should think through carefully how they want to structure activities and actions they would like to track along specific subjects/categories or as we say “classes”. At a very high level you will discern between activities and actions related to works, health , personal development, leasure time and relationships. Obviously you can be as granular as needed
- When adding a new class, users have to provide a name for the class as well as a background color that will be applied for all activities and actions related to that class
- In the reporting data download, the class name will be identified with every activity reported. Also 1TapTrack will provide specific reporting for every class (ie time spent with class related activities)
Defining Activities and Actions
- Activities and actions can be added on the Home Screen or in the activities section of the app, where they can also be edited
- When adding an item, users have to first decide whether it is an activity (with a timer) or an action (just counting), after that, next step is giving it a name and associating it with a class
- For activities
- First you define the reference period (day, week, month) which will indicate at what aggregation levels the following goals/threshold is then set. For instance you might define you want to meditate 15 minutes per day
- Second, users can define the threshold they want to reach or to not exceed in the given period. Depending on the specific case, the benchmark is qualified as min or max. For example users might want to not drink more than 3 coffees per day or to make at least 10 customer calls per week
- Next, users can add tags, related to the activity which will be offered as a choice, each time after an activity is performed. For instance you might define an activity for time spent with a specific client and than tag it with a further specification (eg, meeting, preparation, workshop, interview… etc.) or you might have an activity “cardio” with tags such as “jogging” “swimming” “rowing”. When no tags are defined, no additional actions will be required
- On the next page, users can decide whether they want to enter a comment after an activity is completed
- As a last input, users can upload a thumbnail to be shown on the tile and, if desired, change the background color of the tile (inherited from the class association) with an individual color
- For Actions
- Same procedure as for activities in terms of definition/editing process
Creating media
- In the navigation menu users can select media gallery to create a media gallery to be used within 1taptrack
- With the plus button, users can upload images, audio tracks and videos for further use
